A bit of a storm passed through earlier this year, named Ophelia and has now given up a little bit of a bonus from a local estate.

Its the butt of an elm tree roughly 4 metres in length which has been struggling for some time by the look of it, the butt is literally covered in burrs which have all now been removed carefully and set aside.

A number of other woodturners offered to help with the cutting up and removal of this one, I am assuming that this had nothing to do with the burr elm and was simply out of concern for my welfare.....oh, wait was that a flying pig I just saw!

Hopefully the other storms this winter will also be as generous as this one !
