We had been waiting for this one for a while, a chance to see Joey Richardson and get into close proximity to some of her remarkable work.
Joey's work is known internationally and, whether you like it or don't, the skill and artistry is something you can't deny. A small display of her work was set out and all visitors to the demonstration were able to get a good close look at the work, you can see the pieces on display in the photo block below.
Joey started off the day by taking us through her process for producing thin walled work which effectively become her canvas or in some cases they are then "dismantled" and the pieces used to make up her finished work.
The day continued with detailed explanations and demonstrations of each additional process used to produce one of her finished pieces, carving and piercing, airbrush work and pyrography were all covered in detail. The volume of tips, hints and information given was pretty much overwhelming with Joey happy to answer any questions on techniques and methods as the day progressed.
All said and done a very worthwhile day which has resulted in a huge number of ideas and sketches to try out, if Joey is appearing near you then get yourself along!
