No doubt the title has now gotten your attention, so now boys and girls we can continue....


As woodturners we all respond to the word burr (no its not burl) with an increased level of interest, salivation and a whole range of other silliness so you can imagine my level of joy when this large lump of burr elm landed on my doorstep. It is around 0.5 metres across and a good 130mm thick, it is dry but like most of this stuff has pockets of rot and inclusions ....lumps of rock, nails, screws etc.

So what to do with it, well you are all going to have to wait and see what happens .....
